The cost of software is trending towards zero

We mourn our craft. It’s an often repeated adage that the typical user uses about 20% of your application. It’s just that all of them are using a different 20%.

This statement is interesting from the typical top-down perspective but starts to mean something completely different bottom-up.

I’ve found something lately a lot of people are experiencing, other people’s open-source software is not worth setting up. Let this sink in for a moment. It has become so freaking cheap to write new software, that it’s easier just asking an LLM for what you want, and having it build it. Than searching the web and going through someone else’s setup instructions.
